John Carpenter releasing re-recorded classic themes, shares in-studio video, expands tour

John Carpenter has been taking this whole music thing pretty seriously lately. He recently released Lost Themes II on Sacred Bones, and has been building anticipation for his first-ever live shows. Now he’s announced re-recorded versions of some of his classic film themes to be released on 12″ vinyl, also via Sacred Bones.

The themes from Halloween, Escape From New York, Assault on Precinct 13 and The Fog will be out on two 12″ singles (the first two and the latter two will be combined). Those are all available for pre-order now, and they hit on June 17. They’ve also shared an in-studio video of the band performing the Escape From New York theme, which gives a taste of what those live shows might look like. And the first taste is very good.

Carpenter’s tour hits NYC at Playstation Theater on July 8. Tickets are still available. All dates listed, along with that video (via Fangoria), below.
