John K Samson, frontman of the sorely missed Weakerthans, just wrapped up a short Canadian tour with his partner Christine Fellows last night (11/25), and they’ve got two more upcoming shows in their home country together: The Ship and Plough Winter Concert Series in December and Snowdance Festival in January. As recently mentioned, John is returning to the U.S. to open one of the four nights of Frank Turner‘s Boston run (along with The Hold Steady, Against Me!, and Loudon Wainwright III), and John just added a NYC show happening right beforehand: May 15 at Rough Trade. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (11/30) at 10 AM with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (11/28) at 11 AM. All dates are listed below.

John is releasing a split with Kevin Devine this Friday (11/30) on Bad Timing Records. It includes John covering a Christine Fellows song and Kevin contributing a new original. John also recently teamed with The Hold Steady frontman Craig Finn to cover Gillian Welch’s “Wrecking Ball” for the Don’t Stop Now 2: A Collection of Covers charity compilation. John’s latest album is 2016’s Winter Wheat, and so far there’s no word on a follow-up.

Listen to John’s two recent covers and watch him play a Weakerthans classic live with his solo band:
