John Lennon 2018 tribute announced; John & Yoko biopic in the works

NYC’s Symphony Space will be holding its 38th annual John Lennon Tribute concert on November 30 at Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, headlined by Rosanne Cash. She will be honored with the 2018 “John Lennon Real Love Award,” in honor of her “extraordinary artistic achievements and life-long commitment to social activism.” In addition to receiving the award, Rosanne will be performing some of her favorite John Lennon and Beatles songs, alongside other acts appearing at the show, including Marc Cohn, Jesse Colin Young, Willie Nile, and The Kennedys, with music director Rich Pagano (of the Fab Faux tribute band). In related news, a biopic about John Lennon and Yoko Ono is reportedly in the works, with Universal Pictures expressing interest in the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, director Jean-Marc Vallee (Big Little Lies, Sharp Objects) is in talks to lead the project, with a spec script written by Anthony McCarten (The Theory of Everything). The film is currently untitled and has no planned release date as of yet, so stay tuned for updates.
