John Maus announces 2 new albums, shares "The Combine," expands tour

John Maus, who has been playing new music on his recent tour, has just announced he’ll release new album Screen Memories on October 27 via Ribbon Music. It’s his first in six years, and you can get a taste right now via first single “The Combine” which is signature Maus: gothy synthpop with a grand majestic streak, loads of arpeggiated synths, and his deeply felt vocals. You can watch the video for that song below.

Screen Memories will be available on its own, but it’s also part of a retrospective John Maus vinyl box set that includes 2006’s Songs, 2007’s Love is Real, 2011’s We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves, a disc of rarities, as well as a second brand new album titled Addendum which will be exclusive to this box. That won’t be out till April 2018 but you can preorder it now.

John was in NYC just a couple weeks ago, and his tour heads back this way in September for Basilica Soundscape. He’s also got dates with Protomartyr, and three nights in San Francisco with his old collaborator, Ariel Pink. Updated tour dates are listed below.
