Jonas Mekas, filmmaker, co-founder of Anthology Film Archives and icon of downtown New York, died last month at age 96. City Winery will host a special tribute and benefit at City Winery on February 21, featuring performances from John Zorn, Lee Ranaldo, The Feelies’ Glenn Mercer, The Bongos’ Richard Barone, and composer David Amram, plus “special guests.” Tickets are on sale and proceeds benefit Anthology Film Archives, “continuing Jonas’s work in the preservation, restoration, and exhibition of independent and avant-garde cinema from around the world.”

In other news: John Zorn, meanwhile, is playing a special benefit for his venue The Stone (now located in The New School) on March 12 featuring “many special guests.”

Also: The Feelies will be back at Rough Trade in Brooklyn for another three-night run in May.
