Joy Division making 'Unknown Pleasures: Reimagined' video series for LP's 40th anniversary

Joy Division‘s landmark debut album Unknown Pleasures turns 40 on July 15 and to celebrate there’s a new vinyl reissue of the album out this week. For it, the cover art uses the original black-on-white image that designer Peter Saville ended up reversing (white-on-black) for the iconic album art you or someone you know has a t-shirt of. It’s also pressed on ruby-red vinyl. Preorder yours.

More interestingly, they’ve announced Unknown Pleasures: Reimagined which is a project where 10 directors create new music videos for every track on Unknown Pleasures. They’re starting at the end with the album’s haunting, dubby closing track, “I Remember Nothing,” which has been made into a video by Icelandic directors Helgi & Hörður. Iceland’s alien, beyond-the-wall landscapes make for ideal visual accompaniment to this song, focusing on two men who seem to be both at odds and in tandem with each other. Watch that, and listen to the whole album, below.

In related news, New Order have a new live album on the way where they’re backed by a 12-member synthesizer orchestra.
