Joyce Manor covered The National's "Mistaken For Strangers" (listen)

The National have sort of become a go-to influence for punk bands looking to write prettier records lately. They’re a huge influence on Touche Amore and Pianos Become the Teeth have namedropped them too. Now Joyce Manor, whose pretty new album Cody possibly had some National influence (or at least influence from the same bands The National likes, like The Smiths), have covered The National’s “Mistaken For Strangers” for AV Club Undercover. Joyce Manor’s Barry Johnson already has the kind of baritone that’s perfect for songs like this, so naturally the cover sounds great. Listen:
