Julia Louise

Julia Louise released 'Insatiable' on No Sleep, made a video for "Shock Therapy"

Richmond singer/songwriter Julia Louise used to front the punk/emo band Stay In, but she’s since gone solo and signed to No Sleep Records. Her first release for the label is the three-song Insatiable EP, which dropped this past June. You can still hear some of the punk/emo roots in the way Julia strains her voice, but this is slower, cleaner, and much more somber. For a recent comparison, she’ll probably appeal to fans of Julien Baker, who, in addition to having a similar first name, also has punk connections but makes bare-bones, melancholic music. Julia has a new Erik Rojas-directed video for the song “Shock Therapy,” which premieres right here. Watch, and stream the whole EP:

She begins recording her first full-length this winter.
