Julien Baker's original songs are heartbreaking, but she's also got a real knack for putting her own personal spin on other people's songs. We've already heard her cover Jawbreaker, Elliott Smith, and Death Cab for Cutie, and today she's released a take on Bruce Springsteen's "Badlands." It was recorded backstage at Newport Folk Festival for MyMusicRx, "the flagship program of the Children's Cancer Association who believes #JoyMatters and #MusicHeals." Watch below.

Julien's tour returns to NYC for a show on September 24 at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Grayling. Since we last spoke, Merge signee Allison Crutchfield (of Swearin', Waxahatchee, PS Eliot) and her band The Fizz were added to that show. Tickets are still available.
