The consistently great underground New York rap veteran Ka has released his new album Descendants Of Cain as a download on his website, and it’s set to hit streaming services on Thursday (5/7). The first song streaming is the very psychedelic, very promising “Solitude of Enoch” below.

Speaking of Ka, here’s his Dr. Yen Lo partner Preservation. The DJ and producer, who has collaborated with Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), GZA, RZA, KRS-One, Navy Blue, Roc Marciano,Robert Glasper, Jim Jarmusch and more (and is one half of Dr Yen Lo with Ka), is gearing up to release new album Eastern Medicine, Western Illness on May 29 via Nature Sounds. The title reflects his time living in Hong Kong, when he made this album, and it features Ka, Mach-Hommy, Your Old Droog, Roc Marciano, Mc Tree, Quelle Chris, Billy Woods, Nickelus F, Grande Marshall, Navy Blue, A.G., and HK rapper Young Queenz.

“For me, this album is a document of when I lived in Hong Kong for 3 years and was diggin up music of the region,” says Preservation. “I would head to Sham Shui Po – one of the more authentic neighborhoods with flea markets, hidden record stores, and locals selling their personal goods. There was a purity to the approach, I wanted every track to be sourced only from Chinese records, which was also an exciting challenge.” You can check out single “North Bridge,” which features Navy Blue, below.
