Kacey Musgraves played the Cap with Natalie Prass, Ruston Kelly (pics, video)
Kacey Musgraves recently began her sold-out 2019 tour supporting 2018's Golden Hour (one of our favorite albums of the year), and she played her first of three NYC-area shows last night (1/17) at Port Chester's Capitol Theatre. Kacey and her band took the stage just after 9 PM, as the vocodered strains of "Oh, What A World" played over the speakers. She played every song on Golden Hour, as well as a few older faves like "Merry Go Round," for which she stepped away from the mic and let the audience sing. Kacey was joined by her ace band (who switched instruments a few times and added in some nice cello embellishments on a few songs), she brought out her husband Ruston Kelly for their collaborative "To June This Morning" (which features lyrics from a 1970 poem by Johnny Cash), and she brought out opener Natalie Prass to cover Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive," as they've been doing at other stops on this tour too.
Check out pictures of the Capitol Theatre show in the gallery above, and below check out the setlist, a couple videos (including the one with Ruston Kelly), and video of the "I Will Survive" cover in Toronto.
Kacey's tour hits NYC's Beacon Theatre on January 25 and 26, and it will be back in NYC in June for Governors Ball. She's also playing other major festivals like Coachella and Bonnaroo, the Loretta Lynn birthday show in Nashville, and the Grammys.
