Kanye West announces 2020 presidential bid; Elon Musk offers "full support"

Kanye West says he’s running for president in this year’s election. Specifically he tweeted tonight, “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States 🇺🇸! #2020VISION.”

Whether or not he really means it, he’s for sure got one big backer, Elon Musk, who he was recently hanging out with, and replied to Kanye’s announcement with, “You have my full support!”

This is not the the first time West has talked about his desire to run for President. At the 2015 VMAs he said he was going to run in 2020, and he talked about it on tour in 2016 too. Last November at the Fast Company Innovation Festival, Kanye said he was going to run in 2024, but apparently plans have been fast tracked.

Back in April, Kanye pledged to vote for Trump in this year’s election, but in June he marched in Chicago protests and donated $2 million to support the families of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor and the legal defense for Arbery and Taylor.

.It’s been a big week for West, as he also released a new single that will be on new album God’s Country.
