Saturday Night Live returns for its 44th season on September 29 and the musical guest will be Kanye West. The host is actor Adam Driver (Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, Adam Sackler in Girls, etc).

In other news, SNL's Mikey Day, Melissa Villaseñor, and Alex Moffat have been promoted from featured to repertory players. Vulture also says it's "likely" that at least one person will be added to the cast prior to the season 44 premiere, and no departures are expected.

Kanye released ye this year (part of a series of seven-song G.O.O.D. Music albums that he produced, including his collaboration with Kid Cudi as Kids See Ghosts), and his music was surrounded by controversy. He more recently released some standalone singles, like the Lil Pump collab "I Love It."
