Kath Bloom & Loren Connors giving first-ever vinyl reissues to '80s albums

Kath Bloom and Loren Connors released a few great psych-folk albums together in the early and mid 1980s that were under-appreciated in their time but have gone on to influence and be celebrated by future generations of musicians. A tribute album to Kath came out in 2009 on Chapter Music with covers by Mark Kozelek (who has since collaborated with her), Devendra Banhart, Bill Callahan, The Dodos, Josephin Foster, Scout Niblett, Meg Baird, The Concretes and more; and Loren Connors has gone to collaborate with Jim O’Rourke, Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Cat Power, and more.

Chapter Music reissued four of Kath Bloom and Loren Conors’ albums on CD in the late 2000s, but they are now giving the first-ever vinyl reissues to their ’80s albums. First up is 1984’s Restless Faithful Desperate, which comes out October 5 (pre-order physical or digital). It has new artwork by Kath (above), and the digital version comes with the bonus track “Tell Him” from the 1982 Fast Folk compilation LP. The Restless Faithful Desperate reissue will be followed by reissues of Moonlight and Sand In My Shoe in early 2019. Stay tuned.

Kath also has a few Northeast shows, including Philly’s Johnny Brenda’s on 9/13, Brooklyn’s Wonders of Nature on 9/14, and an opening slot on the 10/19 Connecticut stop of Destroyer’s solo tour.
