Katie Ellen (ex-Chumped) releasing debut 7" on Lauren Records (stream it)

Brooklyn pop punks Chumped sadly called it quits earlier this year, but as you may know, members are thankfully continuing in other bands. Singer Anika Pyle and drummer Dan Frelly formed Katie Ellen, which basically picked up right where Chumped left off. They put out some demos, put on some great shows, and now their first proper release is here. It’s a 7″ single for “Wild Heart” and “TV Dreams,” which were both previously released as demos, and it comes out October 21 via Lauren Records.

The songs, now with better recording quality and a fuller sound (the band is now a quartet), are great. Again, it’s basically picking up right where Chumped left off, but these songs are sadder than Chumped’s usually were. They’re both breakup songs, and if you’ve ever ended a relationship (so, you know, like 99.9% of you), you’re gonna find something to relate to. Listen:

As mentioned, the band is touring with Jeff Rosenstock and Hard Girls, including a NYC show on November 18 at Market Hotel. Tickets for that show are still available. All dates are listed below.
