Kelly Lee Owens covered Aaliyah at her NYC debut (pics, video)

Electronic, avant-pop artist Kelly Lee Owens began her first-ever North American tour in Brooklyn at Good Room on Wednesday (7/12). She sadly was plagued by technical difficulties at the show (and told the crowd she’d return to Brooklyn for a free show to make up for it!), but what she did play sounded very impressive. She treated the crowd to songs off her very good debut album and also covered Aaliyah‘s “More Than A Woman.” Pictures of the show are in the gallery above and video of that cover is below.

The tour hits Toronto tonight (7/14) with John Talabot, and wraps up next weekend in California, where she’ll play LA’s FYF Fest.
