UPDATE: Brand New’s upcoming shows have been cancelled.

Kevin Devine has been touring with Brand New as a member of the band, and he was scheduled to open their upcoming show on November 16 in Dublin, as well. Following the accusations of sexual misconduct against frontman Jesse Lacey, and Lacey’s statement in response, Kevin released a statement of his own, saying “I’m not sure what happens next.” Kevin has now announced that he won’t be traveling to the UK and Ireland with Brand New. “I’m sorry to anyone who was looking forward to seeing me play,” he says. “I will make every effort to make it up to you as soon as possible.” Read Kevin’s tweet below.

In his previous statement, Kevin said, “I believe that it is critically important to really listen to & hear people who speak out about abuse of power & sexual misconduct. I fully support that decision in this situation, which I’m sure was incredibly difficult, and I hope she is supported in the next part of her journey toward healing. I had not heard the story prior to it being made public yesterday. I’m heartbroken for her & for every person who absorbs & subsequently has to figure out how to live with this type of trauma. We all need to do a lot better, myself very much included.” Read his full statement here.

Martha, who were scheduled to open Brand New’s other two UK shows, have also dropped off their slots since the allegations were made.
