Kevin Devine releasing Kenny O'Brien and the O'Douls EP, shares new song

Kevin Devine is once again doing St. Patrick’s Day shows under his Kenny O’Brien and The O’Douls alter-ego, and today he also released a new song by that alter-ego, “Pat McLaughlin’s Work Song.” Like last year’s “Margaret Reed O’Shaughnessy,” it finds Kevin putting his usual indie/emo twist on the traditional Irish folk music form, and it’s very fun stuff. It’ll appear alongside last year’s Pogues cover and “Margaret Reed O’Shaughnessy,” and a cover of Scottish band The Waterboys’ “The Whole Of The Moon” on a Kenny O’Brien & the O’Douls EP that drops February 28 via Bad Timing Records. Listen to the new song below.

The upcoming shows happen in Boston on March 13 at ONCE Ballroom, NYC on March 14 at Rough Trade, and Philly on March 15 at Johnny Brenda’s. Tickets for Boston, NYC, and Philly are on sale now.

In other news, Kevin, The Weakerthans’ John K Samson, and Worriers (solo) are doing a West Coast tour in May:
