Kevin Gates cancels this weekend's Voodoo set after being jailed for battery
Voodoo Music + Arts Experience goes down this weekend in New Orleans, and Kevin Gates had to drop off at the last minute due to what the festival called “an unforeseen incarceration.”
Unfortunately Kevin Gates is unable to perform at #VoodooFest due to an unforeseen incarceration. Keep an eye here & on the App for updates.

As WFLA reports, he was convicted for battery after kicking a female fan at a Florida concert last year. He was sentenced to 180 days in Polk County Jail. Gates had admitted to kicking the fan, and said he was doing it in self-defense. The venue’s head of security, Joe Hailey, testified and said there were around 20 security guards working that night, that Gates had not requested a barricade, and that there was plenty of room for him to back up on stage if he did not want to be touched.
Another artist who recently had to drop off Voodoo fest is Charles Bradley, who postponed all tour dates after sadly being diagnosed with stomach cancer.
If you’re going to Voodoo, check out the festival schedule and say hi to BrooklynVegan in the Toyota Music Den.
