Kevin Morby

Kevin Morby has just announced that his first album for Dead Oceans is titled Singing Saw and will be out April 15. The songs for Singing Saw began when Morby moved into a new apartment in LA's Mount Washington neighborhood where the previous tenants left behind an upright piano. After writing songs on the new instrument (he'd been more of a guitar guy before), Morby ended up making the album in Woodstock, NY with help from Sam Cohen (Yellowbirds), Marco Benevento and many others, including Quilt's John Andrews on the titular singing saw. You can get an early taste via an album teaser with about a minute and a half of a new song. Watch that, and check out Singing Saw's artwork and tracklist, below.

No North American tour dates at the moment, but Morby will be heading to Europe this spring for a few shows and those dates are listed below.
