Kikagaku Moyo releasing 'Masana Temples' (stream it), on tour now
Japanese psychedelic group Kikagaku Moyo return with their new album, Masana Temples, this week. “Masana” is a fictional word created by by the group to describe a Utopian feeling where everyone in society are working in harmony, and they sought to bring that feeling to the album. Kikagaku Moyo went to Lisbon to record with jazz musician Bruno Pernadas. The result is the group’s most focused batch of songs to date, combining folk, jazzy sunshine pop, groovy krautrock, noisy wig-outs and more. Kikagaku Moyo are on tour in North America right now, having played Chicago and Milwaukee over the weekend and will resume the tour on Wednesday in Missoula, MT. The tour includes a stop at Desert Daze fest and hits NYC on October 24 at Music Hall of Williamsburg with J Fernandez and Garcia Peoples on the bill as well (tickets).
