Kim Gordon shares new song "Air BnB," will be a SXSW keynote speaker

Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon has shared “Air BnB,” the third single off her highly-anticipated, first-ever solo album, No Home Record (due 10/11 via Matador). It’s got a scuzzy, dissonant rock hook that sounds like a song Kim might’ve written for latter-day Sonic Youth, as well as some no-wavey funk-punk and some more formless noise parts that all come together in a way that only Kim Gordon can pull off. The song also comes with a video that “was going to be shot in an Air Bnb” but “there wasn’t any money though to make it,” so instead the video is white text on a black screen, explaining what the video would have been. Watch/listen below.

Kim was also just announced as keynote speaker for SXSW 2020, alongside Reggie Fils-Aimé, the former president and COO of Nintendo of America. Other newly-announced speakers include Benny Blanco, Tressie McMillan Cottom, Steve DeAngelo, Camille François, Chip and Joanna Gaines, Roxane Gay, Chris Hughes, Guy Laliberté, Yo-Yo Ma, John Maeda, Col Needham, Kwame Onwuachi, Nile Rodgers with Merck Mercuriadis, Robert Rodriguez with Cheech Marin, Amy Webb, Shoshana Zuboff, and more.
