Kimbra and fellow Australian artist Sophia Brous launched their recurring Exo-Tech live show earlier this year, and the next one happens September 4 at Pioneer Works. The show has Kimbra and Sophia playing improvisational sets with an ensemble and a revolving list of guests with the goal of "[exploring] the intersections between collective improvisation and pop song composition, as much influenced by modern pop and rnb as by free jazz, avant garde improvisation and film music."

The guests at the next one will be Sean Lennon, Colin Stetson Chairlift singer Caroline Polachek (who's also DJing), Dirty Three/Xylouris White's Jim White, Arcade Fire's Sarah Neufeld, Darkside's Dave Harrington, and more.

The ensemble is Kimbra and Sophia with Yuka Honda (Cibo Matto), Stuart Bogie (Antibalas, Arcade Fire), Mauro Refosco (Atoms for Peace, Red Hot Chili Peppers), Pete Drungle, Danny Meyer (Chairlift, Julia Holter), Miho Hatori (Cibo Matto, New Optimism), Doug Wieselman (Antony & the Johnsons, Laurie Anderson), Jeremy Gustin (Star Rover, Delicate Steve), Spencer Zahn, Benjamin Lazar Davis (Cuddle Magic, Okkervil River), and Cleek Schrey.

Tickets are on sale now.
