The reunited King Crimson have been on a sellout spree for dates on their recently announced September US tour, including four nights at NYC’s Best Buy Theater. Now fans can hear a sample of what they raced to purchase. “Venturing Unto Joy Pt I,” a one minute and fifteen second snippet recorded during rehearsals at Elstree Studios, has hit the web. The track features four of the seven King Crimson members: guitarist Robert Fripp, bassist Tony Levin, and drummers Bill Reiflin and Gavin Harrison. “Venturing Unto Joy Pt I” goes pretty hard, with Levin’s bass growling over Reiflin and Harrison’s polyrhythms while Fripp crisscrosses through it all with diagonal slashes. It’s the fusion equivalent of Phil Heath.
