Chris La Putt photo retrospective opening in Bushwick (meanwhile, check out a bunch of his shots in this post)
We've been planning a way to remember and honor BV Photo Editor and our friend Chris La Putt, who passed away this summer a long battle with cancer, which we are very proud to now announce. BrooklynVegan, AdoramaPIX and IDIO Gallery present "KTHXBAI: A retrospective of the photographic works of Chris La Putt" which will be on display in Brooklyn at Bushwick's IDIO Gallery from January 7 - January 17, 2016 (976 Grand Street). The show will feature unpublished work alongside Chris' iconic shots. Please join us at the opening reception on Thursday, January 7 at 6 PM. That's the flyer above.
Prints will be available for purchase with all proceeds benefiting CancerCare. CancerCare provides free professional support services including counseling, support groups, educational workshops, and publications. They helped Chris through some difficult times.
We also want to thank fellow photographers like Ryan Muir, David Andrako, Amanda Hatfield and Maryanne Ventrice for helping make this happen. If you're wondering about the name of retrospective, Maryanne explains:
KTHXBAI was Chris' preferred sign off from online chats, a sneak attack exit strategy when delivering tight deadlines and requesting edits from contributors.
Anyone who knew Chris well would probably agree that it's the perfect name for this. We hope to see you there.
Meanwhile check out some of our favorite Chris La Putt shots published on BV, in 480 pixels, below...
