Kurt Vile played Montreux Jazz Festival (watch his full set), playing Panorama this weekend
Sunday afternoon (7/24) jammy indie rockers Kurt Vile & The Violators will hit NYC’s Panorama stage for what’s sure to be an awesome set. For those who can’t make it out, or simply can’t wait, there’s good news: Vile has shared video of his hour-long July 7 set from the 50th Montreux Jazz Festival. As is typical of Vile’s style, the band’s playing is tight, but the songs unwind loosely and freely. Watch HERE.
Vile’s improvisational spirit made him a perfect pick for the recent Day of the Dead tribute album on which he covered “Box of Rain.” It’s one of the best on the 5-hour album, which was curated by The National who will also be playing Panorama. Their set is on Saturday (7/23).
