La Luz, who relocated from Seattle to the decidedly more surfy Los Angeles, are back with their first album in three years, Floating Features, which is out May 11 via Hardly Art. The first single is “Cicada,” which finds the band’s dreamy, twangy style sounding better than ever. The video, meanwhile, has fun with myriad soap opera tropes and is a lot of fun. Watch that and check out cover art and tracklist below.

The band will be in NYC this weekend just to play Jonathan Toubin’s NY Night Train Soul Clap & Dance Off which will take over every inch of Bushwick’s Elsewhere on Saturday (2/17). La Luz are an inspired choice as their shows often include a dance-off portion. The Mystery Lights, Bodega and Jane Church will also perform. Live music goes from 7 – 11 PM and the dance party begins at midnight. Tickets are on sale and flyer for the show is below.

La Luz will also be playing some Southwest shows around SXSW and they’ll be back in Austin for Levitation in April. All dates are listed below.

Speaking of Soul Clap, the March edition happens 3/17 at Elsewhere with live sets from Sun Ra Arkestra and The Contortions. More performers are still to be announced but tickets are on sale.
