Lady Lamb released her first album in four years, the very good Even in the Tremor, in April, and she's been on the road on the "Deep Love" tour supporting it. That tour's about to wrap up, and for its final few dates, Aly Spaltro announced that she and her band would be joined by a string section, including Thursday night's (5/30) show at Elsewhere in Brooklyn. They came out towards the end of the heartfelt set and added an extra dimension to its last few songs, including Ripely Pine standout "You Are the Apple." Aly said on stage that touring drummer Marian Li-Pino had been urging her to crowd-surf every night, and amazingly she did just that, playing guitar while the crowd carried her on her back.

Katie Von Schleicher opened Thursday night's show, and came out to sing backup with Lady Lamb, as well. Former Yellow Ostrich main man Alex Schaaf, who is also in Lady Lamb's band, went on first, but we missed his set.
