On their way to Coachella, The Last Shadow Puppets stopped in NYC on Monday night (4/11) for a sold-out show at Webster Hall. With only two albums made in the last nine years, their set was pretty evenly split between 2007's The Age of the Understatement and the just-released Everything You've Come to Expect. (They also covered The Beatles' "I Want You/She's So Heavy.") A live string section went a long way help realize their sweeping, baroque-pop sound live, and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (The Rascals) were hamming it up as dueling frontmen. Setlist and lots of live, fan-shot video, below.
Australia's Cameron Avery, who plays as a member of both Tame Impala and Pond, opened the show. He hangs around NYC for a smaller headlining show on Wednesday (4/13) at Berlin with Simon Doom (tickets). Pictures from his set, and lots more of Last Shadow Puppets, are below.
