Rob Burger The Grid

Laurie Anderson guests on new Rob Burger song "Souls of Winter" (listen)

Even if you aren’t familiar with composer/musician Rob Burger by name, you’ve probably heard some of his work. He was a founding member of Tin Hat, he’s a frequent collaborator of Iron & Wine, and he’s also worked on albums by Beth Orton, Norah Jones, Rufus Wainwright, Lucinda Williams, Marianne Faithful, John Zorn, Laura Veirs, Bob Weir, Laurie Anderson, and more. He appeared on several songs on Laurie Anderson’s 2010 album Homeland, and Laurie returns the favor by singing on “Souls of Winter” off Rob’s upcoming album The Grid, due June 21 via Western Vinyl (pre-order). “Souls Of Winter” premieres in this post, and it’s a calming, delicate dose of orchestral art pop that should be right up the alley of longtime Laurie Anderson fans. (Julia Holter fans will wanna hear this one too.) Listen below.
