Lauryn Hill announces 3-day 'Diaspora Calling!' music / art festival at King's Theatre (Friday's show now part of it)

Lauryn Hill‘s sold out show at King’s Theatre on Friday, April 15 is now the grand finale of Diaspora Calling!, a “three-day series of music and art experiences.” Friday’s show will also feature performances by Machel Montano (Trinidad), Stephen ‘Ragga’ Marley (Jamaica), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Mr. Eazi (Nigeria), EL (Ghana), Wondaboy (Nigeria), JoJo Abot (Ghana), and Paul Bearbrun (Haiti). The Kings Theatre lobby is being turned into a art gallery that will be open to the public on Thursday (4/14) and Friday from noon – 4 PM. Says Lauryn:

Diaspora Calling! is a collection of works intended to celebrate the rich tapestry of artists from the African Diaspora while also illumining persistent and irrepressible themes… Even if we work independently, we are a resounding collective voice, both reconciling and embracing our relationship to history, our origins, our future and to ourselves.

Friday’s concert will be live-streamed pre-paywal via Tidal who are sponsoring the festival. Tonight (4/13) is a private opening where Lauryn will be DJing.
