Lauryn Hill releasing new song for 'Queen & Slim' film, playing LA & NYC

Ms. Lauryn Hill celebrated the 20th anniversary of her solo debut on tour last year, and this year she’s gearing up to release her first new solo song in five years. It’ll appear on the soundtrack for Queen & Slim, the new film from director Melina Matsoukas (who directed several Beyonce videos, episodes of Insecure and Master of None, and more) and writer Lena Waithe (who played Denise in Master of None), alongside new music by Vince Staples, Megan Thee Stallion, and more, and a score by Blood Orange. The film — which stars Daniel Kaluuya as Slim, Jodie Turner-Smith as Queen, Chloë Sevigny, Flea, Sturgill Simpson, and more — hits theaters November 27, and the soundtrack comes out November 15 via Motown. You can watch the trailer below.

Lauryn also has two upcoming live shows and both are at iconic venues. She plays tonight (10/16) at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, which is with H.E.R. Then in February, she’ll be in NYC to play United Palace on 2/22, which is billed as a celebration of the venue’s 90th anniversary. Tickets to Hollywood Bowl are on sale now, while United Palace go on sale Friday, October 18 at noon with a presale beginning Thursday (10/17) at 10 AM.

Back in August, Lauryn guested on Pusha T’s “Coming Home,” and you can listen to that below.
