Lauryn Hill remixed the Drake song that samples "Ex-Factor" at Apollo show (video, setlist)

Neo-soul icon Lauryn Hill is playing her classic (and only) album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in full for its 20th anniversary on tour later this year, but first, she played a one-off at Harlem’s historic Apollo Theatre last night (5/1). Like at a usual Lauryn Hill show, she played about half of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, plus some Fugees songs. Making this show extra special, when she played “Ex-Factor,” she incorporated part of the new Drake single “Nice For What,” which samples “Ex-Factor.” “See this is ‘Ex-Factor’/He took the sample/My shit is classic/Here’s an example,” she rapped. Watch below (via The FADER).

“Ex-Factor” was also recently sampled for “Be Careful” by Cardi B (who became the first female rapper to top the Billboard Hot 100 since… Lauryn Hill).

Drake, who also released “God’s Plan” earlier this year, is set to release his new album Scorpion in June.

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill tour hits the NYC-area for shows at Northwell Health at Jones Beach on July 15, and PNC Bank Arts Center on August 8 (tickets).
