Le Couleur released 'P.O.P.' (stream it), played M for Montreal

Winner of Most Improved at M for Montreal went to Le Couleur who I first saw play the festival in 2013. They still make slinky Francophone disco but have grown leaps and bounds as a live act since adding a fourth member on percussion and other instruments. It seemed all played live to me and on Saturday night (11/19) at Katacombes, when they had two drummers going with some killer basslines, Le Couler took on a krautrock vibe, maybe a bit like Can backing Yelle.

It doesn’t hurt, either, that new album P.O.P. is super-infectious, alluring dancepop (I’ve been listening to it a lot since seeing them at M). If you like your disco with a soupçon of sultry French cool, the LP is highly recommended and you can stream it in full below.
