Lenny Kaye, Steve Wynn & more playing Lou Reed birthday tribute in NYC
Lou Reed, who died in 2013, would've been 79 next Monday, and the Bowery Electric is throwing a birthday bash on Sunday, March 1 in his honor. They've gotten a bunch of very cool guests vocalists to sing at the party, including Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate), Oliver Ackermann (A Place to Bury Strangers), Garland Jeffreys, Stu Spasm (Art Gray Noizz Quintet, Lubricated Goat), Patti Rothberg, Dougie Needles (Joan Jett's band) and more. The backing band includes musicians who've played with Iggy Pop, Blondie and more. Tickets are on sale.
