Lenny Lashley's Gang of One releasing 'All Are Welcome' (stream the title track)

Boston punk vet Lenny Lashley (frontman of Darkbuster, guitarist of Street Dogs, etc) has a new album with his Lenny Lashley’s Gang of One solo project coming February 15 via Pirates Press Records. It’s called All Are Welcome, it was produced by Pete Steinkopf of The Bouncing Souls, and Lenny made it with his Street Dogs bandmate Johnny Rioux on bass and Joe Sirois of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones on drums. We’re premiering the title track, a dose of catchy, anthemic folk punk that samples Martin Luther King’s “I Have A Dream” speech and takes on the unjust immigration issues in Trump’s America. To quote Lenny:

I tend to not want to be preachy or standing on a soapbox about my own personal views, but as I was writing that song, recent developments in immigration… it undermines my idea of what we should stand for as a country, basically. That’s where that all came from. The MLK speech was such an enlightening thing for the time. It seemed like a catalyst, a change. I think that’s what we need: More people who are willing to speak out and say, ‘Hey, this isn’t right.’ Unfortunately, everybody isn’t as eloquent as Dr. King was. So with all respect and reverence, we used that soundbite.

As mentioned, Lenny Lashley’s Gang of One is also opening fellow Boston punk vets Dropkick Murphysupcoming tour, including the Poughkeepsie, NY show on 2/17 (tickets) and the sold-out St. Patricks Day (3/17) show in Boston, which is the final show of a four-day, five-show Boston-area run for the Dropkick Murphys (the other shows have different openers).
