Detroit’s Lightning Love released their sophomore LP, Blonde Album, last week (8/28) as the followup to 2008’s November Birthday. It’s a catchy collection of pop songs that have gained some accurate comparisons to Regina Spektor, though they remind me more of her quirky side than many recent (more popular) artists who ape her sound. It’s also got a bit of a modern twee feel which should appeal to fans of Allo Darlin’ and the like. You can stream the album in full below and purchase it as CD or MP3 at bandcamp.

Lightning Love are currently wrapping up a tour with Jamaican Queens (featuring Prussia singer Ryan Spencer) which will conclude in NYC with shows at Spike Hill on Friday (9/7) with Miracles of Modern Science and Dakota Bones and Pianos on Saturday (9/8) with Days Like Months and Peach Kings. Advance tickets for the Spike Hill show are still available, but no advance tickets for the Pianos show. Lightning Love are also set to play Midpoint Music Festival later this month.
