Lindsey Buckingham undergoes open heart surgery, suffers vocal cord damage

Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is currently recovering from emergency open heart surgery, his wife Kristen Buckingham writes on Twitter. “While he and his heart are doing well,” she writes, “the surgery resulted in vocal cord damage. While it is unclear if this damage is permanent, we are hopeful it is not.”

“Needless to say,” Kristen continues, “all touring and shows currently scheduled have been put on pause for the moment as he gathers the strength to heal completely.” Read Kristen’s letter in full below.

Lindsey released a new compilation, Anthology — The Best of Lindsey Buckingham, in October, and went on a solo tour that included a stop at NYC’s Town Hall.
