Norwegian dance music great Hans-Peter Lindstrøm returned this year with It’s Alright Between Us As It Is, his first solo full-length in five years. Conceived as one continuous mix, the record bares the stamp of his previous work with Prins Thomas and Todd Terje, and features fellow Oslo resident Jenny Hval for "Bung! (Like a Ghost)" that was one of Kelly Lee Owen's favorites of the year. If you haven't given it a spin yet, you can listen to the whole thing in full.

If you're curious what Lindstrøm's favorite music of 2017 was, he was kind enough to tell us about his Top 10 tracks of the year, which include some you might expect (Ryuichi Sakamoto, Grizzly Bear) and some you might not (King Gizzard). Check out his list, complete with commentary, and you can listen to all of his pics in a Spotify playlist below.

Lindstrøm was last in North America back in November, and while he doesn't have any new shows here, he does have a few dates scheduled around the world in February and March. Those are listed below.

Lindstrøm's Favorite Tracks of 2017
In No Particular Order...

1. Hampshire & Foat - The Solar Winds (and Cadenza)
Just discovered these guys a few months ago, and after listening to their excellent album "Galaxies Like Grains Of Sand", i decided to revisit my dusty old wurlitzer again. I just love the texture on the crispy wurli-sound, as well as the simple but beautiful chords. Basically, all the songs on the album are good, but this might be one of the stand-out tracks.

2. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Mild High Club - Rolling Stoned
I discovered this track when browsing through the catalogue of Mild High Club. Flutes on vari-speed is always a good thing :-D

3. Childish Gambino - Boogieman
Being rather skeptical to new hip hop, this track completely blew me away after Lars Horntvedt from Jaga Jazzist recommended me to listen to the album. Free your mind and your ass will follow :-D

4. MGMT - Little Dark Age
These guys almost always makes interesting music, and i´ve been listening a lot to their two first albums. This track might be a nice taste of a forthcoming album? ... there´s some really nice chord-progressions here ...

5. Grizzly Bear - Aquarian
Always exciting to hear new Grizzly music. I´m really sad that i missed their performance when in Austin, TX earlier this year, but at least i got to meet them when they came down for my show later that night. There´s some great fab-four references here, from the "He ain´t heavy, he´s my brother"-ish organ-stabs to the "Because"-harmonies...

6. Ryuichi Sakamoto - Solari
Excellent track with beautiful Psalm-ish chords. Sounds are so warm and soothing. Also, it´s impossible not to hear the YMO-link. Such a strong signature. I also regret that i missed his performance in Oslo earlier this year.

7. Carmen Villain - Borders
My next-door studio neighbour released a beautiful album earlier this year. I love those lush long reverb-tails on the vocals. Reminds me of Linda Perhacs.

8. Closing Eyes & Emil Nikolaisen - Bambole
Partner in crime Emil Nikolaisen produced this awesome track with wild ranting in italian towards the end of this song. So good !!!

9. Dungen - Peri Banu vid sjøn (prins thomas version)
Long-time collaborator Prins Thomas made some excellent stripped-down versions of many of the tracks from the already awesome Dungen-album

10. Marius Circus - Roger Wilco´s Night Out
Among several solid releases from Marius on his own In The Garden imprint, this is one of the stand-outs for me.
