Landmine Marathon

The best compliment that I can give a band in heavy music is unpredictablity. Never knowing when or where a vocalist will grab you or scream in your face is one of the basic tenets of excellent punk and hardcore; it’s that sense of danger that draws people to the pit or off of a PA speaker into the crowd. Landmine Marathon understand that; psycho frontwoman Grace Perry paces around the stage, grabbing and pushing members of the audience while the rest of the band rips out a taut and energetic set of early-Earache-meets-crust-core. Landmine Marathon rips live, but make sure and look for the falling bodies overhead.

While LM’s live show is pretty much undisputed, the band has yet to capture that feral live energy on record. Its a common problem, but one that moves closer to remedy on Gallows, the band’s latest LP due via Prosthetic Records on 9/27. Unlike Sovereign Descent‘s fade into opener “Exist”, Gallows hits you out of the gate with a battering ram of whammy-laced guitars and foul down-tuned bludgeon on “Three Snake Leaves”. Grace’s vocals sound more belligerent than ever, and the beatings continue with “Cutting Flesh & Bone” and eventually “Beaten & Left Blind”, the track which makes its first appearance here today. Check out all three tracks below.

As previously mentioned, you can catch Landmine Marathon on tour with Warbringer, Lazarus AD, and Diamond Plate. The bands hit Gramercy Theater on 10/18. Tickets are still available. All tour dates and song streams are below…
