listen to Hater's "Things to Keep Up With" from new LP 'Siesta'

Malmö quartet Hater release their new album, Siesta, this week via Fire. The band are reminiscent of a lot of ’90s/’00s Swedish groups who made jangly pop (The Concretes, Acid House Kings) and, not unlike those, there is a melancholy undercurrent to Hater’s music as well. That dark lining in their silver cloud comes through strongly on “Things to Keep Up With,” with a moody bassline that takes center stage a third of the way though while Caroline Landahl’s fragile vocals teeter on the verge of breaking. The song premieres in this post and you can stream it below.
