Boston-based quartet Tomboy boasts a name refreshingly devoid of false advertising (I got super excited about Girl Band, once upon a time, only to be burned). It’s another project of Ali Donohue, formerly of Potty Mouth, currently playing bass in Perfect Pussy, and also fronting Potty Mouth’s past tourmates Fleabite.
The band’s debut album, Sweetie, is out now on Ride the Snake Records in both vinyl and digital forms. It’s short but hardly sweet, rife with the gritty sass that makes Tomboy (really, any Donohue collaboration) such a brutally affective experience.
