The late jazz legend Thelonious Monk performed at a high school in Palo Alto, CA in 1968, which was the idea of one of the school's students and was recorded by the school's janitor. The recordings, which Thelonious' son calls "one of the best live recordings I’ve ever heard by Thelonious," are now being released as Palo Alto on July 31 via the legendary Impulse! Records.

You can listen to "Epistrophy," which very much lives up to Thelonious' son's description, and check out the album art and tracklist below.
