Victoria, BC band Loving wrapped up a tour with Boston's Squirrel Flower on Monday night (10/28) at Baby's All Right. Loving put out a self-titled EP in 2016, and they've followed it with a few new singles this year as they prepare to release their debut full length on Last Gang Records in 2020. Both new songs and older ones pair mellow, folky indie rock with a twist of psychedelica, and Monday night's crowd, for what the band said was their first NYC show, was digging it.

Squirrel Flower recently announced their debut LP, I Was Born Swimming, due out in January via Polyvinyl and Full Time Hobby. Their opening set included that album's first single, "Red Shoulder," which sounded just as full and compelling live, with singer and songrwriter Ella Williams backed by her band, as the single version. Ella also performed a few songs solo, including one that used vocal looping to lovely and haunting effect. Check out pictures of both bands in the gallery above.

Next up for Loving is are some overseas shows in Europe and the UK, including a set at Pitchfork's Paris festival, while Squirrel Flower has a headlining tour in 2020, including an NYC stop at Rough Trade (tickets).
