Lower East Side hotel purchased by Jared and Joshua Kushner
Senior Donald Trump advisor (and son-in-law to the president) Jared Kushner, along with his brother Joshua Kushner, have made a new addition to their real estate holdings by buying the Lower East Side's Hotel on Rivington, as the NY Post reports. This adds to their portfolio of NYC properties, which already includes 666 5th Ave (which isn't actually as metal as its address suggests, but did break records as the most expensive office building purchased in the country), SoHo's Puck Building, and 17 East Village walk-up apartment buildings.
The purchase of the Hotel on Rivington -- a popular target of noise complaints -- also represents the first foray into the hospitality business for the Kushner brothers who have some work ahead of them. A source told the NY Post that it will need to undergo renovations to compete with other, newer area establishments. I'm sure they can afford it.
"This was Joshua’s call," a source told the NY Post about the purchase. "Jared is busy in Washington."
So Trump’s son in law owns a hotel at Essex and Rivington. I’ve a feeling we’re not in David Peel’s Lower East Side anymore.
