Lykke Li, Cat Power, Courtney Love & more play Yola Dia on Sunday in LA
The inaugural edition of Lykke Li‘s Yola Día festival happens this Sunday, August 18, at LA Historic Park in Los Angeles, CA. As mentioned, the lineup includes Cat Power, SOPHIE, Courtney Love and the Chateau Band, Megan Thee Stallion, Kelsey Lu, Empress Of, CupcakKe, Lia Ices, and Lykke Li herself. In addition, the women-centric festival features a team of female bartenders, chefs, restaurateurs, security personnel, and artists, and a portion of proceeds go to the Downtown Women’s Center.
“Everything we do comes from the heart and it’s sprung from friendship, sisterhood and community,” Lykke Li told Refinery29. “To have the opportunity to celebrate the talents and strength of the women we admire was the impetus to start this festival. Art is one of the best ways to galvanise and touch people, of all kinds. That is our goal.”
“We are also using this day as a place and time of action,” Lykke continued. “We ourselves are hungry to do something unifying in the face of serious immigration and human rights issues in this country, and we are excited that we can incorporate elements that don’t typically exist in the music festival space.”
Tickets to Yola Día are on sale now.
