What, Me Worry?

Mac DeMarco announces new LP (listen to 2 songs), touring w/ Tonstartssbandht

What, Me Worry?

Mac DeMarco will release This Old Dog on May 5 via Captured Tracks. It’s Mac’s first album in three years, and he’s spent the interim touring, and also relocating from Queens to Los Angeles. “I demoed a full album, and as I was moving to the West Coast I thought I’d get to finishing it quickly,” Mac says. “But then I realized that moving to a new city, and starting a new life takes time. Usually I just write, record, and put it out; no problem. But this time, I wrote them and they sat. When that happens, you really get to know the songs. It was a different vibe.” You can listen to the two opening songs on the album — “My Old Man” and “This Old Dog” — both of which lean on the acoustic guitar (and higher fidelity than Mac usually works with) below.

You can catch Mac on tour this spring with old pals Tonstartssbandht. His NYC date, as of now, happens at Governors Ball where he’ll play Sunday with Air, The Avalanches, Phantogram, Franz Ferdinand, Warpaint, Skepta, Parquet Courts, and headliners Tool. We bet he’ll be watching Tool’s set — he’s (kinda) covered their song “Schism” before. You can watch video of that, and check out album art, tracklist and Mac’s full tour schedule, below.
