Mac DeMarco just announced his new album which is called Here Comes the Cowboy and features the lead single "Nobody." In case you noticed the similarity between this album title and Mitski's 2018 album Be the Cowboy and its biggest single "Nobody," Pitchfork points out that Mac's rep says Mac never listened to Mitski's album and only learned about it after deciding on his own album and song titles... is he trolling?

Mitski responded in a Tweet, saying, "haha! I'm 100% sure mac & I just went fishing in the same part of the collective unconscious! What's wild is we have the same PR, so I LOVE my personal conspiracy theory that she heard the album+track titles but kept quiet thinking maybe some Mac fans will mistakenly find me loll." She then added, "Anyway thanks for the laugh, Mac! Happy release!"

Mitski further commented in a reply to another person on Twitter, saying, "'s a non-issue! i tweeted it because i thought it was funny, especially bc we share a PR person, Jessica, and it's funny that she managed to keep it a secret when i talk to her every day!" She also added, "my god, why is everyone mad? i'm laughing!"
