Machine Girl drops new album 'U-Void Synthesizer'; NYC release show is this week
We included the impossible-to-define Machine Girl‘s release show at Saint Vitus this Thursday (2/27) as one of the five best shows to see in NYC this week, and we thought the show was celebrating the release of MG’s new demos compilation but actually it’s celebrating his just-released new album U-Void Synthesizer. Like his previous material, the new album’s a completely genre-defying mix of industrial, noise, synthpunk, drum and bass, and way more, and it’s harsh and abrasive and chaotic and all over the place but it’s also strangely accessible. Like 2018’s The Ugly Art, main member Matthew Stephenson made this one with live drums by Sean Kelly. Listen to the new album and the demos comp below.
The Saint Vitus show is also with Richmond screamo/metalcore band .gif from god (who released the great approximation_of_a_human on Prosthetic last year), NYC electronic musicians Abby and LustSickPuppy (the latter of whom appears on U-Void Synthesizer), and a set from noise musicians Channel 93 vs Sweet Zach vs Grooming vs Afterlife.Online under the name Versus (not to be confused with the indie rock band). That show is now sold out.
After the Vitus show, Machine Girl will hit the road opening for Code Orange.
