Earlier this year, it was reported that Morrissey cancelled an Iceland show because the venue serves meat. Our fingers are crossed that he doesn’t find some reason to cancel his upcoming Madison Square Garden (6/27) show with Blondie, but we can at least be assured it won’t be for that.

Consequence of Sound points out that in his recent open letter to Al Gore, he included the following:

Not only is it possible for venues to provide a 100 percent meat-free menu-as is done now at every concert venue in which I perform, including Madison Square Garden, where I have a show at the end of June-it’s also a moral duty.

New York Post clarifies that there will also be no dairy products, making the venue 100% vegan for the show. MSG officials declined NY Post’s request for comment, but Daily Burger owner Drew Nieporent (who also co-owns Nobu and other big NYC restaurants) told them, “This is the first time I’m hearing about it, but I love my man Morrissey. He’s a wonderful artist, so I wouldn’t mind. He can do whatever he wants.”
